“The Nevada Territory Wild West Fair”!

In the interest of recognizing the importance of teaching our Nevada children the significance of our roots, and the need to embody the entire state in an annual celebration which symbolizes the pride of being “Battle Born”, the Nevada State Fair Board of Directors has unanimously adopted the idea of evolving the fair into a statewide heritage event that honors and recognizes the rich histories and lasting legacies of the pioneer men and women who first founded the Silver State during the mid 1800’s.

Under the guise of the NV State Fair, “The Nevada Territory Wild West Fair” will continue to focus on traditional livestock shows, auctions, agricultural events, and exhibits, as well as carnival rides and live entertainment which are all vital and key components of any state fair. But, there will be new and exciting educational and interactive elements added to the fair this year that will embrace a Wild West theme as we celebrate and acknowledge Nevada’s rich and storied history.

New venues and attractions to the fair in this, and in coming years, will include a Mining Camp, Western Frontier Town, a Civil War Town and Camp, Native American Village, Railroad Yard, Mountain Men encampment, Stage Coach rides, Old Mexico, and so much more!

As the mystique of America’s Old West continues to draw the attention of tourists from across the globe, it is our hope that as this new direction begins to take shape in the new decade, the Nevada Territory Wild West Fair will soon become a regularly visited tourist destination that will be the pride of our state and a boost to our local economy!

This endeavor is undoubtedly going to be a long and arduous one, but one that as Nevada citizens, we can all embrace and support. The public will be invited to “stake their claim” in the new fair by purchasing “honorary deeds and shares” (scroll down) for as little as $5 which will go directly to the building and development of a continuing tradition that has been a Nevada legacy for over 136 years.
